Special Events

ART: MARJORIE PRIME by Jordan Harrison, directed by Lynn Gutstadt

May 28 - 30, 2021

4:00 pm, outside on the Angel Terrace

Cast:

  Marjorie: Peggy Lord Chilton

  Tess: Debra Bowers

  Walter: Mark Donaldson

  Jon: Brian Fuqua

It takes some time to recognize that this is a futuristic story surrounding the love and tragedy of a deeply committed family and the themes of loss and memory. The story slowly unfolds with surprise after surprise until we are thoroughly immersed in a future of artificial intelligence.

"A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for drama, “Marjorie Prime” operates by stealth. It initially has the look and feel of a featherweight work — of a cool, low-key domestic comedy of ideas, built on a single ingenious gimmick. But at some point, you realize that it’s been landing skillfully targeted punch after punch, right where it hurts." (NY Times)

Marjorie Prime is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.      www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

Cast:

  Gabe: Damyn Young

  Karen: Kathy Cody

  Beth: Meredith Miller

  Tom: Ken Yakiwchuk

A funny yet bittersweet examination of the married lives of two couples who have been extremely close for dozens of years.

A fabulous dinner at the home of food writers Gabe and Karen proves hard to swallow when Beth drops the bomb that husband Tom wants out of their 12-year marriage. Suddenly, both couples find themselves grappling with questions of loyalty, individuality, and commitment in Donald Margulies’ deliciously funny, sharply observed Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, delivering the time-tested flavor and richness of a classic dish.

“…Margulies writes about relationships with such intelligence and spiky humor that his comedy-drama … becomes something quite wonderful.” (Time Magazine).

DINNER WITH FRIENDS is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., NY

Funny, honest, poignant, and pertinent.

Thomas Hanratty, lifelong resident of Hell's Kitchen and once the most dangerous white cab driver in New York, was blinded eight years ago in a drunken accident and is fading into a routine of self-pity and alcohol. His bartender and only friend, Lou, who was partly responsible for the accident, is moving to Vermont with a new lady friend, but he can't abandon Tom. He recruits a slightly handicapped volunteer reader from the Lighthouse Edna, who battles her way through Tom's shell.

“Geoghan brings his characters to life and the audience to its feet cheering." - (The Los Angeles Times)

“Uproariously funny, deeply moving, enthralling theater. Stephen Belber’s MATCH has great beauty and tenderness, and abounds in wit.” (NY Daily News)

Tennessee Rising: The Dawn of Tennessee Williams - A New Solo Play, explores the formative six year period (1939-1945) that shapes a young, unknown writer named Tom into the acclaimed playwright known as Tennessee.

Written and performed by Jacob Storms, directed by Alan Cumming, and recipient of the United Solo Award, Tennessee Rising brings these unexplored years center stage as the audience becomes friend & confident to young Williams as he experiences the unexpected highs & devastating lows of his early life, wherein his most enigmatic character develops, himself.

Jacob Storms is best known for his recurring role (Serge) on Steven Soderbergh’s Amazon Original Series, Red Oaks. Since debuting Tennessee Rising at The United Solo Festival in New York, Storms has gone on to perform at The St. Louis Williams Festival, NY Live Arts, & Club Cumming.
